Back & Neck Pain

Back & Neck Pain

Back and neck pain are called a variety of different names, including sciatica, lumbago, and general backache. In 2019, the Australian Institute for Health and Welfare reported that around 4 million Australians were affected by back pain, making up for over 4% of the country’s total disease burden.

Disc Replacement

Disc Replacement

Your spine is made up of 33 vertebrae, each separated by a shock absorbing known as an invertebral disc. As these discs undergo wear and tear over the course of a lifetime or due to trauma, they can become damaged and put unnecessary and painful pressure on the nerve roots. This may eventually may warrant surgical intervention.

Spine Trauma

Spine Trauma

Spine trauma occurs when the vertebrae of the spine are manipulated in a way which damages them. This can happen in diving accidents, car accidents, or even seemingly insignificant falls or bumps under the right circumstances. In individuals with osteoporosis or other bone weakening conditions, spinal trauma can also happen gradually through regular activity.

Cancer of the Spine

Cancer of the Spine

Two types of cancer can occur in the spine: a primary cancer or a metastatic cancer which originates from another site in the body. If left untreated, they can eventually invade and destroy surrounding tissue structures and result in permanent and severe consequences including paralysis and death.

Minimally Invasive Surgery

Minimally Invasive Surgery

Using a small incision, micro instruments, and a microscope or endoscope when required, your surgeon is able to conduct a variety of medical procedures with minimal tissue exposure, resulting in less downtime and often better results than regular surgical methods.
